Graham Saunders is CUSP’s weather guru extraordinaire. He teaches meteorology at Lakehead University and is president of Environment North. He does research and writing for several publications about weather, climate, and energy issues, often speaking about these topics to both public and professional audiences. GS_weather1crpOur blog contains samples from Graham’s newspaper column, Weather Whys.

“I began connecting meteorology and climate with politics and social justice issues in the early 1990s. The Global Climate Coalition may sound like something akin to Greenpeace but consisted of Exxon, the US coal industry, etc. They paraded through international climate meetings during the 1990s in similar ways to the tobacco industry and even had some of the same people as denial ‘experts’. Weather Whys has appeared in the Thunder Bay Chronicle-Journal during the past 15 years. My ‘formula’ has included weather summaries, weekly to seasonal forecasts and weather/climate related topics, often about political and social justice issues.”
